Due to feedbacks regarding the voting for ACM, most of us thinks that the poll should be strictly on 1 vote per user. Using the blog could result in multiple votes with differen IP address. As a result, a new poll is created in the RPWS Sharepoint.

Hello RPWS,

Please note that all IG trainings/rehearsals can be resumed with effect from Monday, 20 July 2009.

Hence RPWS practice will resume on Tuesday, 21July 17, 2009, 5.30pm SHARP.

However, please take note of the following :

1. Temperature checking will be conducted before the commencement of Band Practice. You are required to declare your temperature to Eugene Yeo at the conference room.

2. Students/Instructor who do not pass the temperature check (>=37.6 will not be permitted to stay for rehearsal. He/She is advised to visit the nearest doctor immediately.)

On top of this, ACM selection will be held on this practice as well. Therefore, please prepare the pieces for the day.The repertoire are as followed:

Please be informed that there will not be any band practice today.

As it is, there hasn't been any instructions from TRCC for the resume of all IG activities as yet. However, please check your mails on a regular basis for future update from the Presidents in regards to the resume of band practice.

On a side note, if you wish to borrow the instrument home for self-practice, kindly approach Vanessa Teo(QM) to make arrangement with her for the loan of instrument.
[She will only be free after 5pm]

Please give her a call/SMS for further instructions.
Please do not go to TRCC w/o informing her, because TRCC Staff might chase you away.

Hey all,

As we all know, due to the H1N1, all the year 1 are not to attend lessons as from tomorrow till 1 July 2009. As a precautionary measure against the spread of H1N1 virus among members, band practice tomorrow will be cancelled and practice will be postpone to further notice.

For the ACM selection, it will also be postpone till the next practice resumes.
Do take care of yourselves, drinks lots of water and do see the doctor if needed.

On side note, for the Payment of the RPWS Shirt, it will be $11 and the payment shall be made on the next practice.

Before you are officially in the band, we would like to invite you in the upcoming Band Tune-in session. This Tune-in session allows you to experience how our rehearsal is like and to give you a chance to play with the band.

This is regarding the SLA Fiesta and Band Practice TOMORROW(28th April).
Please report to TRCC to get your instruments LASTEST BY 4pm.
In the process of bring down your instrument to South Agora, please remember to assist the percussion section with moving the percussion instruments.

After the performance, we will move back our instruments to the Conference Room and

Those sudden gust of wind, minimal temperature, back-to-back performances. And of course, the tonnes of fun like ending off the year of 2007 with Auld Lang Syne on stage with hundreds and prolly thousand pairs of eyes watching, that was memorable indeed. That was then, Taiwan in the year of 2007/08.

And now, here it comes - another opportunity to widen our experiences.

Our 2nd oversea-trip on this upcoming 20th February, and this time round to HongKong; had been long awaited! I bet it's gonna be awesome, right.

So, let's not waste time and start packing your luggage and get all set up because HongKong's been longing for us. hehe. ;P

For those who have not check your email, here's an update for you.

This Thursday's Band Practice has a slight change. Instead of sectional from 2pm - 4.30pm and full band from 5.30pm-8.30pm, it shall be FULL BAND from 2pm-8.30pm. Do report to TRCC by 1.30pm as to prepare the instruments and to set up the chairs. Avoid arriving at/after 2pm.

P/S: Do check your emails regularly.

Band Practice schedule:
5th February
Hong Kong pieces
2pm - 4.30pm : Sectionals
4.30pm - 5.30pm : Break
5.30pm - 5.45pm : Set - up chairs and get ready
5.45pm - 8.30pm : Full Band

Please be PUNCTUAL at all times.

Section Leaders please get your files ready by 5th February as the Librarians will be checking the individual files including the main file.

For Hong Kong Trip

Please check you webmails regarding the HK Trip Payment as Jasmine has sent out the remaining fees that each person has to pay.

About rooming list email by Jasmine:
As we all know we will be doing quad sharing.
During the weekends, please think about whom you want to share your room with.
There will be only a maximum of 4 per room.

Next is, after deciding whom to share the room with, can either 1 of the 4 drop me an e-mail regarding the sleep arrangements.
For example, A, B, C, D decides to share a room, A can drop me an e-mail.

Please note, we have equal number of guys, all guys are needed to share in 4s.
However, for females, there will be 3 triple sharing.
Thus if you want triple sharing, please book your slots fast. First come first serve basis.

In any case, where you cannot find a rooming partner, or do not respond to this e-mail, the committee will have to decide your sleeping arrangement.

Deadline of Submission: 2nd February, Monday 9pm SHARP

Here's an update for everyone.

From Jasmine.
The Travel Agent, Steven, will be coming down on Monday, 5.45pm sharp for the Hong Kong trip Briefing. It is compulsory for all band members to attend the briefing.

From Song Ren.
Hi Fellow members,
This is just a clarification and reminder for the band practice next week.
Band practices will resume on 5th and 6th of January 2009!(Monday and Tuesday).

To prevent any confusion, the reporting time will still be by 5.30pm. However, we are advised to come as early as we can to prepare the scores and sort them up.

Performance for Open House will be on 7th January 2009, time 1630hr(tentative).

Section Leaders please inform the guest players promptly and confirmed with them if they can commit the two practice and the Open House performance. If not, they will not be performing with us on 7th January.

Principal Players are also required to confirm the parts for the fellow members in the section for the performance during Open House before the practice commence(not during or after warm-up).

The repertoire for the Open House will be as followed:
1) Instant Concert
2) Disco Lives!
3) Lady Marmalade
4) Sway
5) Dikir Puteri/Postcards from Singapore Movement 1
6) Latin Gold

As for all of the members, you are advice to practice some long tone and tuning with your section-mates as most of us have not touched the instruments for more than 2 weeks already.=P

In other words, all miscellaneous things shall be done before 5.45pm when the usual practice starts. The storage room should be open before 5pm.

I understand some of us will be having UT. However, to prevent any miserable feeling during practice, we shall do our part in taking the initiative as a member.

Last but not least, do rest well before school reopen as more practices will come to our way to prepare ourselves for the Hong Kong trip, upcoming performances and concerts.

Hello everyone,

The above attached files (refer to sharepoint) are the details for the band festival which I guess most of you are getting impatient to see it. Please do take note on the attire and things to bring for the days. Do keep in mind that we are representing the school for this event.

Therefore, we shall abide the rules when we are there and don’t get into trouble. Nevertheless, I do hope that all of us will have fun throughout the event and learn as many things as possible through the rehearsals scheduled.

SIBF Rehearsal

There's an announcement from the Presidents regarding SIBF rehearsals.

1) Band members are not allowed to bring non-RPWS members during rehearsals (Eg: Friends, family... etc)
2) Rehearsals are strictly for RPWS members only
3) For alumnis, not sure for now but the president is checking on it

Another point to take note, section leader is supposed to send the band tee sizes to Jasmine ASAP.

Hi Year 1s,

Please reach the conference room at TRCC by the stipulated time given in the email. Please cooperate with the section leaders and there is a possibility that you might take turns to play the instrument if the no.of players > instrument available.

The interview and audition WILL NOT be done during the tune-in. Tune-in will be a mean for you to experience the band.

If you're still worried about how the interview and the audition process, do be vigilant during the briefing or any announcements during the tune-in.

Yes we do provide.

Can I join other IG after I've signed up for RPWS?
Yes you may but it is discouraged as it may clash with RPWS schedule.

I don't have music background, can I still join?
Yes but priority is given to those with music background.

Where and when can I register?
You can register with us during the SLA Fiesta at our Booth. However, it is mandatory that you sign up online as to confirm your registration.

Where can I sign up online?

What if I registered for RPWS but I do not wish to continue?

How to know if I am a confirmed RPWS member?
There'll be a tune-in session on the 29th April, Tuesday, for you to experience what is the band like. Prior, there'll be sessions of interviews and auditions that you need to go through. Once everything is done with, a personnel of RPWS will email you your results.

When would I need to attend RPWS practices?
Once again, you'll be sent an email. There'll be a Tune-in session on the 29th. So do come and get some experience if you wish to continue. If you do, there'll be a series of interviews and auditions for you to go through.

When is the interview and audition?
You'll be emailed about it.

Can I learn another instrument other than my current played instrument?
Yes you may apply but then again, it depends on circumstances.

Can I gain CE points if I'm in RPWS?
Yes you do. It depends on the type of activities that you're involved with. Examples: Open house, performance, overseas trip and such.

Is the conductor strict?
You may enquire him at the 'Chill-Out' corner and hopefully he'll tend to your questions.

Is RPWS fun and friendly?
Yes, we are. There are shrooms, chicken and all sorts of random family going around and forever evolving.

First of all, I think everyone did a splendid performance in Taiwan. In addition, we have fans from Chiayi that love us. That's something for us to be proud off.

From Songlin's word of mouth, Kelly requested that everyone should send all their pictures (whichever you would like to share) to Songlin. Prior, Kelly will help everyone to burn the pool of pictures into a DVD. Like the sound of that?
